This is a pretty fun device that can run a lot of your retro childhood favorites. It doesn’t have everything pre-installed but it has a lot. Plus you can add more via Micro SD card.
It’s about as large as a Gameboy Color, almost exactly actually. This actually lends further to the nostalgia factor.
It emulates a lot of the very popular retro systems but doesn’t seem to have a bunch of power to compete at say PS2+ levels. But it can function at PSP and dreamcast levels.
At the price it’s really hard to beat and seems really well built with a great screen and decent sound.
I’m taking a star off because I’m having a hard time getting it to charge. It charges with the included charger and one or 2 others I plugged it to but it doesn’t charge with the majority of other chargers I tried, including the chargers in my car. This has been a real letdown and I’ve requested a replacement to see if it’s just my unit or if this is a universal issue.
Apart from that this is a really great, fun system with great value for money and a good start into the world of retro gaming handhelds.
This device has become one of my favorits out of many retro emulators that I have. This device’s potential is unlocked with the AeUX version of ArkOS! Download it, flash it to a name brand memory card (64 or 128GB recommended) and you’ll have all the space you need for ROMs and you’ll have an amazing experience! My views on the origina review (which was a 4 star review to begin with) still stand and you can see them below. But I just had to come back and give it that extra star! Not only is the device quality built, but when unlocked with the correct software, it’s amazing!
BEWARE OF FAKE R35S handhelds! While they’re not all together terrible themselves, most of them are not compatible with the AeUX version of ArkOS.
